What is SLOTS Safety Management Assessment (SMA) Scheme?
|
The SLOTS (Singapore List of Trade Subcontractors) Scheme was launched by Singapore
Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) in October 1992 to provide a list of competent
subcontractors for the reference of main contractors, consultants and developers. With effect
from 23 April 1999, all subcontractors engaged in PWD Corp, JTC, HDB, PSA, CAAS and DSTA
projects (for all trades except ceiling, glazing and metal work) are required to register as SLOTS
members. Furthermore, only SLOTS or BCA registered contractors will be granted work permits
for their foreign workers.
Our consultants have the expertise to guide our clients in developing the Safety Management
Assessment (SMA) Scheme manual according to the requirements. We can also review your
existing SMA scheme manual in preparation for surveillance audits and renewal.
In line with the launch of SLOTS, SCAL introduced a simplified version of the OHS Management
System called Safety Management Assessment (SMA) Scheme to help the SLOTS members to
enhance their safety awareness and implementation. To attain SLOTS membership, all applicant
SCAL before they could be granted SLOTS membership.
Annual surveillance audits will be conducted by SCAL to ensure the certified companies continues
to comply with the requirements of the SMA scheme. The SMA certificate is to be renewed yearly
subject to the audit findings.
